In The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, Malefor, summons this creature to make the "Ring of Fire" to bring about the destruction of the world.

He is slowed down by Spyro and Cynder destroying a dam and flooding a canyon in his path. He walks into the canyon and his legs turn to solid rock. Spyro and Cynder destroy his main crystal but he still finishes his work with a power boost from Malefor
