Overview
The Sunken Ruins is a underwater city filled with Fish Men and Mermaids. It is unknown what really happened to this city, but from what is shown, it seems that the ciy either sank or was destroyed and the inhabitants had to flee it. It is more likely that the city sank, as the inside of the ruins is full of air which must of gotten trapped from the surface. The city is filled with numerous destroyed pillars, statues, acidic pools of water and illuminated shells.
There are only a few fish men within this area, they also seem to have owned the ruins at one point as there are many fish men statues placed across the temple. Lily is the only mermaid found within this place as well as the only friendly resident.
New Features
Invincibility Gadget
The Invincibility Gadget is a gadget made by the Professor. It needs only 24 Light Gems to power it and protects Spyro from anything harmful (this includes enemy attacks, acidic water, lasers etc.). The only downfall is that the gadget only lasts a short while which makes it very risky to use in some places.
Acidic Water
The acidic water can only be found in this temple, Watery Tomb and Dark Mine. The acidity of the water may have come from something contaminating the pipe system in the city. These pools of water are harmful to Spyro and he cannot touch it without dying instantly. The only way to swim through these areas is to use the Invincibility Gadget and swim through hastily to avoid getting killed.

Trivia
- There is a way to get through the Sunken Ruins without swiming in the acid water. Some of the wall lamps can serve as platforms, and one can help you get to a high floor at one point in the temple.
