Sheila the Kangaroo is the first alternate playable character Spyro meets in Spyro: Year of the Dragon. When Spyro first sees Sheila, she is locked in a cage under the wary watch of Moneybags, who asks for a small fee to release her. Her homeland is Sheila's Alp, which she shares with three mountain goats.

Story

Year of the Dragon

Sheila's past is unknown, but it's assumed that she grew up alongside the Mountain Goats. She was captured by the Sorceress shortly before the abduction of the dragon eggs, and Moneybags was put in charge of guarding her. Spyro was able to free her by bribing the greedy bear, who was then kicked into a wall. Before returning home, Sheila explained that's been over a thousand years since the dragons vanished from her worlds, and all the magic vanished with them. This is the reason why some of the portals don't work.

Back at the alp, rhynocs have kicked three of the Mountain Goats, Billy, Bobby and Pete, out of their homes. One was pritty angry with the trio for hanging his underpants on a nearby tree. However, Sheila was able to sort out the mess, and got Billy and Pete home. However, a rhynoc village was in the way to Bobby's house, but Sheila was able to destroy the huts and the goat returned home safely.

In Sunny Villa, a Lion named Marco had lost his love, who was guarded by rhynocs in the top of a tall tower. Sheila made it to the top of the tower, but it was revealed that the love, Rapunzel, has filed a restraining order against Marco for an unknown reason. Rapunzel askes Sheila that should she see Marco again, she should tell him that she has moved out.

In Seashell Shore, three of the Seals, including Snappy, are ploting to blow up a rhynoc fortress, but the turrets prevent them from entering it. Sheila was able to lend a foot to the seals and was able to destroy all the turrets before the TNT crates exploded. With the fortress destroyed, Sheila obtained another egg (containing Mollie).

When Bianca turned a rhynoc named Buzz into a toad-like monster to kill Spyro, Sheila heard the news and headed for the lava pit cell as fast as she could. Spyro and Buzz mainly charged at each other, though whenever Buzz was knocked into the lava pit, Sheila would stomp him with her feet. After a while, Sheila was able to finish Buzz off with a powerful stomp, which caused Buzz to sink into the lava and to his death.

Later on, Sheila went to the Spooky Swamp, where she enjoyed the sweet smell of the swamp. Two fireflies name Buson and Basho found two eggs trapped in cages, and have decided to free them using some bombs. However, giant stones and mushrooms blocked the pathway to the eggs, but they were able to free them with Sheila's help.

Sometime later, Sheila went to the Desert Ruins, and ran down a long pathway full of scorpions and living flamethrowers, where she found two eggs (containing Lester and Pete) during the walk.

After the Sorceress has been defeated the first time, Sheila was trying to sort out a problem with the Mountain Goats, as one of them teased Billy and made him crash into the wall near Bobby's house. Spyro soon arived and asked her where Hunter was. Sheila told him that Hunter made her promiss not to tell him where he went, party exposing the secret by accident. When Spyro was shocked by the news, Sheila said that he did not hear anything from her.

Personality

Sheila is generally an easygoing character. She speaks with a smooth Australian accent and enjoys the 'simple pleasures of yesteryear'. Sheila is friendly to those she cares about, but doesn't take any prisoners when it comes to kicking Rhynoc butt. Sheila is more than happy to help Spyro on his journey, and gives him a hand when he is fighting in Buzz's Dungeon.
