Story
Year of the Dragon
Scorch was formerly a gladiator Rhynoc similar to the ones found in Sunny Villa, tasked with taunting Agent 9. After the Sorceress argued with Bianca (causing the latter to leave the former's side), she called Scorch over and transformed him against his will into a giant grey bat-like monster.
Scorch was very powerful, but the ammo Bentley sent out was deadly towards him, and Scorch was soon knocked into the lava and killed.
The Battle
The battle in Scorch's Pit takes place in the belly of a giant toothy animal, where green acid remains quite active. The bones and skin of the animal are a sickly blue-green color, and the orange evening sky is visible between the ribs and teeth.
A yellow force field manifests around Scorch most of the time, only leaving him vulnerable when he flies around or launches an attack. As Scorch remains airborne for the entire battle, it is impossible for Spyro to physically reach him. The only way he can be damaged is through the use of red and green fireworks, which are supplied by Bentley.
All of Scorch's attacks are signaled by him wrapping himself in his wings as he charges up, followed by his force field dropping when he launches the attack. His primary attack is launching an explosion of electric orbs, which spread out all over the arena and detonate with a much larger radius. He will also spit up anywhere from two to four red-shelled eggs, which initially hatch to reveal crabs or TNT-bearing raccoons. As Scorch's health depletes, the contents of the eggs will change towards tiny suns that run after Spyro that will detonate after a short amount of time, and one single large egg which will hatch a Buzz replica, who will briefly take over the boss battle for one last stand.
After Scorch is defeated, two instant replays of him spiraling backwards will play, and he will fall back-first into the acid. A Dragon Egg containing James will be released, and Spyro will resume his journey towards Midnight Mountain.
