In Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!
Moneybags first appears in Ripto's Rage, where he first establishes his presence as a gem-collecting salesman. Spyro first meets him in Glimmer and later meets him in various other realms throughout Avalar. After Ripto has been defeated, he is forced by the other Avalari to return all of the gems he took from Spyro throughout the game.
In the Epoligue, Moneybags was seen being eaten by a Lava Lizard in Skelos Badlands after the Bone Builders had enougth of his medding.
In Spyro: Year of the Dragon
Moneybags appears again in the Forgotten Worlds, citing a slump in business as his reason for being hired by the Sorceress. He acts as a guard for many things ranging from caged Allies to Challenge Portals; thus, making him a minor antagonist in the game. Of course, his only true allegiance remains to Gems, and as such, he is more than willing to assist Spyro and defy the Sorceress's orders if he is paid his standard "small fee".
After Spyro defeats the Sorceress, Moneybags reappears in Midnight Mountain, where he reveals that he is going to sell a dragon egg for "cold hard cash". He flees when he realizes this was not the wisest thing to say to Spyro, who himself is a Dragon. Spyro must then chase him in a loop around Midnight Mountain, charging him and reclaiming all of the Gems that he had taken throughout the course of the game. After all of his Gems have been taken, Moneybags admits defeat and mentions an interest in retiring to Spooky Swamp and creating haiku poems for money. He then runs into the portal for Crystal Islands and is not seen for the rest of the game.
In the Epoligue, it's revealed that Moneybags has become an easy target for the Bailey Gang in the Dino Mines.
In Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
Notably, Moneybags only appears once throughout the entirety of Enter the Dragonfly, namely in the Dragonfly Dojo. Here, he has donned a dark blue kimono and claims that he has found a new and better life through generosity. However, he admits that money still owns his soul, and charges Spyro his standard "small fee" (200 Gems) to raise the floating platforms.
Moneybags was originally slated to have more appearances in Enter the Dragonfly, but like many other aspects, these later appearances were axed due to rushed development.
In Spyro: Season of Ice
Moneybags appears throughout Season of Ice, where he is in charge of guarding the portals to the four Sparx Worlds. After being paid to open the way to the final Sparx World, Moneybags will return all of the Gems that Spyro paid.
In Spyro: Season of Flame
Moneybags appears throughout Season of Flame serving a similar role as he did in Season of Ice, except that he is not guarding any particular sort of portal. He is first seen guarding the Canyon Hop portal in Sunny Plains, much to Sheila's annoyance.
In Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs
Moneybags appears throughout Attack of the Rhynocs as he has many times in the past, selling various items needed for completion of the game. He suffers an attack from Butler the first time that Spyro enters his mansion, and gives the purple dragon the Mini Dynamo after Butler gets knocked out. Moneybags also refuses to give Spyro the Heart of his mansion, though he does make an offer to "loan" him the Heart for the price of 3500 Gems, the highest price that he has charged in any game with a finite amount of collectible Gems.
In Spyro: A Hero's Tail
Moneybags's appearance, role, and voice are drastically altered in A Hero's Tail. He swaps out his business suit for a Middle Eastern outfit and his accent changes to suit his new look. In addition, he no longer actively blocks Spyro's route, but instead has set up shops throughout the various worlds, where he sells items like Lock Picks to Spyro for a "fair price".
