The Artisans Homeworld

A Homeworld is a hub level that allows Spyro or other characters to access the different realms in the Spyro games. Within the Spyro universe, homeworld refers to a character's realm of origin.

Spyro is able to progress to other Homeworlds in each game by different means. Despite not being realms themselves, they share in their characteristics by offering gems and other collectibles to be found.

In the first Spyro the Dragon game, each Homeworld had a certain type of Dragon inhabiting the area. In the sequels, there were no major species inhabiting each area, but they are all named distinctively. In Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage they are named after the different seasons of the year, while in Spyro: Year of the Dragon they are named after different times of the day. In Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, there was only one Homeworld, unlike previous games, while Spyro: A Hero's Tail had three much larger Homeworlds.

In Spyro the Dragon, Homeworlds differed from its two sequels in that, unlike them, no boss had to be conquered in order to move onto the next one, though specific goals only made easier by defeating said boss were required. Additionally, the Homeworlds of the first game had various enemies, restricted to the realms in the later installments.

Access to the various realms from the Homeworld was accomplished early on through the use of portals, however, after A Hero's Tail, the portal system seems to have been completely abandoned, likely to save load times.
