Gulp's Overlook is the second boss level in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!. It is accessible after collecting every Talisman in Avalar.

There are two Skill Points to earn here; the first is awarded if Gulp is defeated without Spyro getting injured once, and the second is awarded by hitting Ripto with a projectile weapon during the battle.

Before the Battle

Prior to the battle, Ripto is celebrating his victory over Avalar and attempts to reward Gulp with Zoe as a snack. Spyro glides in and singes Ripto's cape before Zoe can be fed to Gulp, however, and she manages to escape unscathed. Ripto declares that Spyro is starting to get on his nerves and leaps up into a throne, telling Gulp that it's "lunchtime" and promising him all the Fairies he can eat if he can finish off Spyro.

The Battle

Spyro faces Gulp in the Autumn Plains castle, which consists of multiple arches raised into a domed ceiling. The sky can be seen through massive openings in the walls. The arena is surrounded by a raised platform with green and yellow stripes, beyond which lies a moat of lava. Ripto watches the battle safely from the sidelines on a massive green and yellow throne, with purple gems embedded in the armrests.

Elora assists Spyro in this battle by sending in some tamed pterodactyls from the Skelos Badlands, which fly around overhead and drop large red eggs containing various weapons and, should Spyro's health get low, fodder as well. At the onset of the battle, these eggs contain explosive metal barrels that Spyro can charge to send flying at Gulp. As Gulp's health diminishes, the weapons within the eggs grow to include bombs that Spyro can flame and homing missiles that can be shot. Whenever Gulp gets hit, he will stomp on the arena floor, sending everything into the air and demolishing any remaining weapons.

Gulp's primary method of attack utilizes the twin cannons on his back, which will raise up and launch two electric orbs. The amount of orbs fired will increase as his health diminishes. If Spyro gets too close, Gulp will attempt to body-slam him. If there are multiple weapons in the arena, Gulp will run over and swallow them, utilizing them in his own way. Swallowing a barrel will cause Gulp to breathe a wave of greenish-yellow orbs, swallowing a bomb will cause him to release a ring of large orange-red orbs, and swallowing a missile will allow him to send it after Spyro, though it can be redirected back to Gulp. He will also seek out any stray fodder wandering around and eat them to replenish his own health.

After the Battle

After defeating Gulp, he will rear up on his hind legs and teeter for a bit before collapsing in exhaustion. Ripto's throne will topple backwards and send him falling out of the castle. The banners on Autumn Plain's castle will revert to normal through the magic of the Guidebook, freeing the homeworld from Ripto's control.
