Gaul The Ape King is the main antagonist in The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. When Spyro was first born, he was the ape that lead the attack on the Dragon Temple. He wanted to free the Dark Master so the apes could get revenge on the dragon race. He led the raid into the Temple and stole Cynder's egg, and destroyed the rest of the eggs in order to try and prevent the prophecy. He then used his master's magic to poison her and make her do the Dark Master's bidding.

When he recaptured Cynder after Spyro rescued her earlier, he commanded her into battle against Spyro. Cynder attempted to trick Gaul into dropping his staff, however, Gaul was one step ahead and did not fall for this trick. After throwing Cynder aside, he went into battle with Spyro. He was killed by Spyro after Spyro becomes corrupted and infused with the Dark Master's powers.

He is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.
