Coastal Remains is the first part of the Lost Cities homeworld in Spyro: A Hero's Tail. It is accessible after defeating Gnasty Gnorc in the previous realm.

Overview

Coastal Remains is a sunny, calm coastline located on the surthace of Lost Cities. The place is decorated with many large seashells which may be the homes to the many sea creatures and natives that live in this area. The main sea creatures on land are the Crabs, which dwell mainly on the coastline and many cave paths, while the natives live in groups inside their huts. The Gnorcs have also infiltrated this place but there are only a few of them.

Coastal Remains also gives Spyro more of a chance to explore underwater and get him used to killing underwater enemies as well as hold a few gem bottles.

The forcefield in front of Watery Tomb can only be accessed once Spyro has destroyed a total of 20 Dark Gems. There are 10 across the three areas which will stack on top of Spyro's last total in the Dragon Kingdom.

New Features

Water Wheels

There are two types of water wheels in this area, the manual wheels and the water powered wheels.

The manual wheels are exclusive to this area only and are used to refill Otto's pool back to its original level. One wheel must be activate by pole spin while the other must be activated by Spyro using his weight to constantly push the wheel down. Both wheels start to work by themselves once the red bar is filled to the top.

The water powered wheels may only be activated by Spyro's Water breath. These wheels usually activate very quickly but they are timed to reset after a while. One is found in Watery Tomb while the other is near the east side of Coastal Remains which leads to a Light Gem.

Crabs

Crabs are like normal enemies but they need to be killed slightly differently. The orange crabs can die from any of Spyro's attacks except Water breath. The blue crabs can be frozen by Ice breath, shocked by Electric breath or they can be charged into and then have a horn dive hit the target on their stomachs to kill them.

Elevators

Two elevators exist in Coastal Remains. One goes up to the Cloudy Domain and the other down to the Sunken Ruins. Both these elevators can be activated without any special requirement (e.g electric breth, Light Gems) but once activated they cannot be stopped until they have reached their destination.
