Dogs are a recurring species throughout the original trilogy. They are the native residents of Haunted Tomb in Year of the Dragon, and also serve as enemies in Spyro the Dragon.

In Spyro the Dragon

Dogs, alternatively referred to as Wolves, appear as enemies in realm of Toasty. They are large, have black fur, and wear spiked collars. They spend most of their time sleeping, unless Spyro draws too close or flames them once. When they awaken, they will attack by jumping on top of Spyro, and then returning back to their sleeping spot. They can only be defeated by being flamed twice in a row, as they are too large to charge.
In Spyro: Year of the Dragon
Dogs appear in Haunted Tomb as friendlier beings. Here, they are smaller, have purple fur, and wear clothing similar to that of the ancient Egyptians.
Dan
Dan is the first Dog that Spyro meets when he arrives in Haunted Tomb.

Riddle

Allgeier
Allgeier is found at the end of the level, where he will ask Spyro for his answer to Dan's riddle. Spyro is given four potential answers (A bone, an egg, a treasure chest, or a bandicoot), and when he gives the right answer, Allgeier will give him the Egg that he was guarding from the Sorceress. He has waited over seven thousand years for someone to solve the riddle, and once he is free of the burden, he exits through the end-of-level portal.
